Per Manus Ad Sapientiam

The author of this work has been known to me since he first began studies with Dr Barr, the top student of my grandmother Katherine St Hill. It was she who founded the Cheirological Society back in 1889 and ever since then it has been at the forefront in the study and the teaching of hand analysis in all its implications. This book took many years in its writing and draws upon the ancient spiritual traditions of China for its inspiration and vision True to the spirit of both my grandmother and Dr Barr the author has brought together both the mystical and the practical aspects of cheirology and presented them with clarity and balance .

Since this work was first published it has been reprinted 3 times in over 5 continents and is available in several oriental languages. Savants of the East have taken it to their bosom and studied it as if some ancient classical treatise. It well deserves such close study for in its pages one can discover the whys and wherefores of the art of cheirology in all its many rammifications and applications.

No longer content with the simplistic and usually quite superstitious practices of palmistry, the modern sceptical thinker and researcher has embraced cheirology and it is achieving a great popularity around the world due mainly to this book. Using the eminently suitable medium of the Buddhist elements each part and section of the human hand is identified and analysed into its constituent meanings and forces and in this masterful presentation one can see how the physical, mental and spiritual energies of humankind intertwine and express themselves.
The author shows clearly the many correlations between the Chinese medical, chronological and shamanistic systems and methods of prognosis in such a way as to make them accessable to those who are not specialists in these fields and there are many references and notes to help students along their way. This work has made many well known modern books upon palmistry etc obsolete and outmoded.
If you were stranded upon a desert island and allowed only one book this would be the one to take along, for one could study it for many years yet still discover fresh new things in its many pages.
