Harrassment by Christopher Jones

Since the GCRC announcement was first issued Christopher Jones, his girlfriends and others have been harassing and/or attempting to intimidate through telephone calls and/or letters some members of the Cheirological Society or of the General Council by pretending or insinuating amongst other things, that their names or details are being used in literature etc without their knowledge. In fact the material he refers to has been used in advertising, by our own and other national Societies, for many years and was originally drafted by him personally - a fact he conveniently overlooks.
Since he was expelled from the Society by the General Council, Jones has spent much of his time attempting to create discord and distrust between members of our own Society and others. He has shown himself to be quite unscrupulous in the methods he uses.
Many of the people he has been harassing or upsetting have been either women aged over 65 or persons he has never met. They wish to have nothing whatsoever to do with him or his nasty activities.

To reinforce some of his preposterous claims he often uses and manipulates texts he has misappropriated from the Society. This action, which is illegal, is one of several currently being investigated by the Data Protection Agency with a view to prosecution. For such reasons we have taken the precaution of removing the names of certain people from our listings even though they still remain members or officials. This will not stop him or others using his illegal copies of our address list to contact them but it will prevent newer officials being approached by him.

We have advised members that if they are contacted by him, or anyone they suspect of being connected to him, to be cautious and say they have left the Society and wish to be left in peace, afterwards informing us so that we may report the occurence to our Solicitors.
Members should feel quite free to inform either their own solicitors or their local police force if he does harass them. The Society's solicitors are happy to advise them concerning this or other legal restraints they may wish to apply.
Fortunately such disturbed and tormented persons are the exception within any group.
